A fresh, mineral Chardonnay from Chablis in northern Burgundy. Lemon, white peach and crisp orchard fruit meet white flowers, fresh almond and a subtle saline quality. It’s medium-bodied and beautifully balanced, with plenty of acidity and a clean, stony finish.
Domaine de Mauperthuis is run by Laurent and Marie-Noëlle Ternynck, who have been growing grapes in the region since the early 1990s. Their vineyards stretch across the countryside surrounding Chablis, with a focus on farming that lets the character of the region’s limestone-rich soils come through in the finished wines.
This Chablis is fermented with indigenous yeasts and spends 12 months on its fine lees entirely in stainless steel. There’s no oak here, so rather than covering Chardonnay in toast and vanilla, the focus stays on freshness, texture and that classic Chablis minerality.
Yes, Chablis is Chardonnay. Just Chardonnay wearing its crispest, saltiest outfit.
