Gizella Furmint/Hárslevelű

A fresh, vibrant white from Hungary’s Tokaj region made from Furmint and Hárslevelű. Pear, juicy apple and citrus lead the way, with a little pineapple and wildflower underneath. There’s plenty of bright acidity and that distinctly mineral character Tokaj is known for, balanced by just enough richness to keep it from feeling too lean.

Gizella Pince was founded by László Szilágyi in 2005 and named after his grandmother, Gizella. The fruit for this wine comes from several vineyards throughout Tokaj, each with its own variation of the region’s famously complex volcanic soils. The grapes are whole-bunch pressed, fermented cool in stainless steel and kept completely unoaked to preserve all that freshness.

Tokaj might be famous for its historic sweet wines, but producers like Gizella are showing just how good the region can be at dry wine too. Furmint brings acidity and structure, while Hárslevelű adds a little more fruit and floral character.

Bright, mineral and incredibly food friendly. A very good argument for drinking more Hungarian wine.
