A dry, aromatic and gently textured white from Sicily made from 100% Moscato Bianco. Orange blossom, citrus and ripe stone fruit meet wild herbs and Mediterranean scrub, with a fresh, salty finish that keeps all that aromatic intensity in check. A little time on the skins gives it texture and grip without pushing it fully into orange wine territory.
Marabino farms biodynamically in the Val di Noto, in the southeastern corner of Sicily. The vines grow on limestone-rich soils under plenty of Mediterranean sun, and Muscatedda is the wine they consider their most direct expression of this landscape.
Moscato is usually associated with sweet wine, but Marabino takes it in the opposite direction. The grapes ferment spontaneously and completely dry in stainless steel with their skins for around 15 days, then remain in steel with regular bâtonnage. You still get all those wonderfully floral, unmistakably Muscat aromatics, just without the sweetness.
The name “Muscatedda” comes from the local name for the first vineyard harvested in the area. Aromatic, herbal, salty and completely dry. Moscato showing off a very different side of itself.
