A bright, juicy Gamay from Beaujolais with fresh raspberry, cherry and cranberry, a little violet and peppery spice, and just enough fine tannin to give it some shape. Light-bodied and energetic, with plenty of acidity and that crunchy red-fruit character that makes Beaujolais dangerously easy to drink.

Le Beaujolais comes from three parcels in Lancié, a village immediately next to Villié-Morgon. The cuvée was created by Camille and Mathieu Lapierre in 2021 and follows the family's classic approach, with carbonic maceration and around six months of ageing in tank.

Marcel Lapierre was one of the defining figures of the natural wine movement in Beaujolais, beginning to work without added sulphur during fermentation in the early 1980s under the influence of legendary local winemaker and researcher Jules Chauvet. Today, Camille and Mathieu continue the family estate with organically farmed Gamay and the same minimal-intervention philosophy.

This is Lapierre in pure drink-now mode. Fresh, crunchy, ridiculously easy to love and exactly the kind of red that benefits from a slight chill. Don't overthink it.
