Grape: Zweigelt
Region: Kamptal, Austria
Vintage: N/A
Body: Light
Sweetness: Dry
A bright, refreshing rosé from Austria’s Kamptal made from Zweigelt. Fresh strawberry, tart cherry and red currant lead the way, with delicate florals and a little herbal spice underneath. It’s light-bodied and dry, with plenty of acidity keeping everything crisp and lively.
Weszeli farms around Langenlois, where Davis Weszeli puts biodiversity and healthy vineyard ecosystems at the centre of his approach. He calls this philosophy “Terrafactum,” with the idea that the character of a wine should be created in the vineyard rather than manufactured in the cellar.
Zweigelt itself is thoroughly Austrian. Created in 1922 by crossing Blaufränkisch with St. Laurent, it has gone on to become Austria’s most widely planted red grape. Here, its juicy red fruit and naturally fresh character make it particularly well suited to rosé.
Bright, dry and uncomplicated in the best possible way. Get it cold and find some sunshine.
